MEETING PROFESSIONALS RESOLUTION
TO ECOLOGICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES
While the grim effect of doing “Business
as Usual” hits closers to home, a new
sense of urgency is in the air to
integrate GREEN practices as good
business sense not just because it’s the
right thing to do.
Kansas City, MO – April 15, 2008
– The eco-friendly society has a new
aficionado – and its spin on minimizing
the negative impact on the environment
is brilliant! FIVE STAR Speakers &
Trainers are planning the media
reception for Meeting Professionals
International’s Kansas City Chapter
(www.kcmpi.org) which will be
recognizing the value in going “green”
as they introduce new initiatives from
meeting concepts to contracts to
conclusions with opening remarks from
former Kansas City Mayor, Kay Barnes on
Tuesday, May 20th 2008.
In 1999, Kay Barnes became Kansas City’s
first woman mayor. When she left office
in 2007, her legacy included the
resurgence of the city’s Downtown Loop
as showcased by the fabulous new Sprint
Center. Tuesday, May 20th, the Sprint
Centers’ College Basketball Experience
(CBE) will be the proliferation ground
for new strategies and insight provided
by Kay Barnes herself along with
Panelist and Keynote Speaker, Anthony
Pollard, President of the Hotel
Association of Canada.
Pollard, who is a dynamic and passionate
believer in the importance of preserving
the environment through “green”
initiatives, has been instrumental in
creating eco-friendly partnerships in
the hotel industry throughout North
America. Phelps Murdock, President and
CEO Bridging the Gap, Veronica Rinard,
Community Relations Director Travel
Portland, a division of the Portland CVB
that handles green initiatives, Keri
Hinton, CMP, Event Manager Proactive,
and Independent Meeting Planner, Patti
Gaughan, CMP, will also serve as
panelists.
Following the luncheon, attendees will
hear and take part in a panel discussion
with these five renowned experts on the
vital importance of preserving the
environment through green meeting
practices. Attendees will be
representative of all facets of the
meeting industry from planners and
suppliers to CVB members and employees,
as well as other “green friendly”
organizations in the Kansas City
metropolitan area.
