Carl Jeffers

Carl Jeffers is an editorial contributor to The Seattle Times, and is a nationally renowned Television political commentator, radio talk show host, lecturer, political analyst and featured speaker and consultant. In addition to his ongoing activity as an editorial contributor to The Seattle Times, Jeffers has recently also been named as a columnist-contributor to the HuffingtonPost website, a site that has rapidly become one of the premier progressive philosophy sites on the internet.

Jeffers is the official political analyst for KIRO radio, one of the top rated stations in the Seattle market and the CBS affiliate for that market.  In addition to providing political analysis and commentary on various formats and shows on the KIRO line-up, Jeffers now appears weekly in the “Week in Review” segment of the top rated Dave Ross show on the station as well. Jeffers  has also provided political analysis and commentary for radio stations KABC in Los Angeles and KLSD in San Diego. Jeffers has also “guest hosted” on KABC, the ABC affiliate in Los Angeles and one of the top two stations in the number two radio market in America today. 

For the past five years, Carl Jeffers has hosted his own regular radio talk commentary show on KIRO radio in Seattle.  The show, titled “On Fire with Carl Jeffers”, developed a reputation and following as an increasingly popular staple of passionate yet moderate and balanced talk show commentary in the Northwest.

In a recent development, along with continuing his Seattle KIRO affiliation, Carl Jeffers has also joined the Clear Channel network, the nation’s largest owner of radio stations, as their official fill-in guest host for all locally hosted shows on their AM Progressive Talk AM 1150 station in Los Angeles, the nation’s second largest radio market.  This position was created especially for Carl Jeffers to bring him into the Clear Channel family with every expectation of a broader opportunity developing in the future.  Jeffers has also guest hosted for Clear Channel’s AM760 Progressive Talk station in the Denver, Colorado market as well.

Carl Jeffers has also been featured as a guest host on the AIR AMERICA radio network, syndicated throughout the country, and Jeffers is a regular contributor to the liberal Radio One Syndicated Network, appearing as both a political commentator and analyst as well as a guest show host, while also regularly contributing to the conservative Christian Evangelical oriented KCBI network in Dallas, TX.  They refer to Jeffers as “their favorite Liberal.”

Jeffers serves as a political analyst for Northwest Cable News TV in Seattle and  has also provided political commentary for KING  5 TV, the NBC local affiliate in Seattle.

The above activity commitments establish Carl Jeffers as someone very much “keyed in” to the pulse of the entire west coast from Seattle to San Diego, and that connection and broad reach provides a voice and geographic perspective that can provide significant commentary balance on the national scene as well.

On the national scene, Jeffers is a recognized political and social topic commentator who regularly appears on all of the major cable news TV networks.

Jeffers was a contributor under contract for over a year on MSNBC during the 2004 Presidential primary and campaign season.

During that period, Jeffers appeared weekly on HARDBALL with Chris Matthews and SCARBOROUGH COUNTRY with Joe Scarborough, where he and Scarborough pioneered the popular “Lightening Round” segment, featuring fast paced back and forth exchanges on a variety of topical issues.

Jeffers has also appeared on virtually every major talk and commentary show on CNN from Connie Chung and Paula Zahn to Lou Dobbs and Wolf Blitzer, and he continues to make guest appearances on various show formats on CNN, the network where he began his television commentary career back during the days of  the acclaimed daytime CNN show, “TALK BACK LIVE.”  Carl Jeffers has also appeared on HANNITY & COLMES on the FOX News Channel, and he has appeared on Capital Report on CNBC as well as the Tavis Smiley Show on PBS.

Jeffers was a frequent guest on the daytime MSNBC show Connected Coast to Coast, co-hosted by Ron Reagan and Monica Crowley, and he has also appeared on MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Oberman.

Jeffers co-hosted the “Jennings and Jeffers” radio talk show on WLS radio in Chicago, one of the nation’s premier radio talk stations.  In his consulting activity, Jeffers is featured as a motivational and topical social and political commentary speaker and panelist at general business seminars and conventions throughout the country.

Carl Jeffers can currently be seen on TV appearing frequently on both CNN and MSNBC as a respected political commentator and analyst whose energy, keen insight, and engaging style has made him a “show favorite” throughout the networks.

Carl Jeffers was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. While at Northwestern, Jeffers played varsity Tennis, excelled on Debating Teams, made “Dean’s List” several quarters, and was elected President of the Interfraternity Council, one of the first African-Americans to be elected President of the Interfraternity Council at a major White university in the country.  Jeffers was a pre-law major at Northwestern with majors in both Political Science and Marketing.

Jeffers has also established a successful career as a lecturer and consultant in the areas of business development, motivation and inspirational guidance to achieve personal and corporate growth goals.

Jeffers current career in political commentary and analysis on social, topical, and political issues of the day first began with contributor editorials to The Seattle Times in 2000, and he has gone on from there to develop a successful career in both Television political commentary  analysis and as a successful radio talk show host and commentator.

In addition, the current interest in national politics and the Presidential race has heightened the interest in Carl Jeffers as a keynote speaker and lecturer who has developed a special “Tour of America” theme that highlights the demographic changes that affect not only politics in America but also corporate and business plans for growth and expansion as well.

Jeffers is working on his first book which is expected to be published late winter of 2008.
